Edelweiss (Leontopodium Alpinum)- Grow those famous Edelweiss seed flowers! Edelweiss is a favorite Swiss Alpine wildflower, ideally suited for growing in a well-drained rock garden, planting mass ground cover, or alpine trough. Leontopodium Alpinum plants form a low clump of silvery gray foliage, bearing clusters of wooly white flowers with small flower heads held in whitish bract stars at the beginning of summer.
The Edelweiss flower is perfect for cutting, and fresh or dried arrangements may be used. The Edelweiss herb has historically been used by Europeans as a tea for treating diarrhea and dysentery. Often, Edelweiss herbal plants are commonly used as cosmetic creams to help heal and reduce facial wrinkles. The Leontopodium Alpinum plant in Edelweiss is low-growing and makes cool, compact border plants. Sometimes they will become self-sowing and come back the following spring even stronger. Best in regions with cool summers. Drought-tolerant once established.
