Planting Instructions:
-
Seed Preparation: Soak the soursop seeds in room temperature water for 24 hours to soften the seed coat and enhance germination.
-
Planting: Fill a small pot with well-drained, loamy soil. Plant the soaked seeds about 1/2 inch deep into the soil, with the pointed end facing down. Cover lightly with soil and water gently.
-
Location: Place the pot in a warm location with indirect sunlight. Soursop seeds require consistent warmth, ideally between 25-30°C (77-86°F), to germinate successfully.
-
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Overwatering can lead to rot, so ensure the pot has good drainage.
-
Germination Time: Germination typically takes 2-4 weeks. During this period, maintain consistent warmth and moisture levels for the best results.
-
Transplanting: Once the seedlings have developed strong roots and a few leaves, they can be transplanted into larger pots or directly into the ground if you live in a tropical or subtropical climate. Choose a location with full to partial sun and well-drained soil.
-
Care: Soursop trees thrive in warm, humid environments. Water regularly to keep the soil moist, and apply a balanced fertilizer every 2-3 months. Protect young trees from strong winds and cold temperatures, as they are sensitive to frost.
