Graines de Christia Obcordata is a plant that grows in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, such as India, China, and Thailand. It has green stems and small pink flowers that attract bees and butterflies. It can grow up to 60 cm tall and 30 cm wide. It likes warm and humid weather and well-drained soil.
But what makes this plant so special is its leaves. They are shaped like hearts with two lobes at the tip that look like butterfly wings. They are green on top and purple underneath. They can change color depending on the light and temperature. Sometimes they are more green, sometimes more purple, and sometimes even red or pink!
Seed Germination instructions
Prepare some pots or trays with a good potting mix. Make sure the pots have drainage holes at the bottom and the potting mix is moist but not soggy.
Sowing the Seeds
Sow the seeds on the surface of the potting mix. Do not cover them with soil as they need light to germinate. You can sprinkle some fine sand or vermiculite over them to keep them moist and prevent them from being washed away by watering.
Choosing a Location
Place the pots or trays in a warm and bright place, such as a windowsill or a greenhouse. The ideal temperature for germination is between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F). The seeds should sprout within two to four weeks.
Seedlings have Sprouted
Once the seeds have sprouted, you need to keep them moist but not wet. You can mist them with water every day or use a humidifier to maintain high humidity. You also need to provide them with enough light but avoid direct sunlight as it can burn their delicate leaves.
Transplanting
When the seedlings have grown two or three pairs of true leaves, you can transplant them into individual pots or larger containers. You can pinch off the tips of their stems to encourage branching and more leaves.
Caring for Christia Obcordata
Care for your Christia Obcordata by watering them regularly but not overwatering them. Fertilize them once a month with a balanced fertilizer. Prune them if they become too leggy or crowded, and protect them from pests and diseases.
